Residential Landscaping in Durham Region
Lawn and garden care for homeowners who'd rather spend the weekend on something other than yard work. We keep your property looking good so you don't have to think about it.
What's included
Most homeowners who hire this out aren't looking for a designer. They want the property to look consistently good without it eating a weekend, and they want the same crew turning up rather than a different truck each month. The work is straightforward — the value is that it happens without you arranging it.
Every residential landscaping program is scoped to the property. Here's what we typically cover:
- Weekly or bi-weekly lawn maintenance
- Garden bed clean-up, mulch and weeding
- Hedge and shrub trimming
- Spring and fall yard clean-ups
- Overgrowth and one-time restoration cuts

Season by season
How the season actually runs
The season doesn't run at one speed. Here's how the schedule shifts from April through November, and why.
Lawn maintenance on a schedule
Weekly or bi-weekly cutting with edging, trimming and a blow-down, on a set day so you know when we're coming and when the property will look its best.
Garden beds
Beds edged, weeded and mulched, with the depth maintained through the season rather than a single spring dump that's gone by August.
Hedge and shrub trimming
Hedges kept to shape and off walkways, and shrubs pruned at the right point in their cycle rather than whenever the crew happens to be there.
Spring and fall clean-ups
The two heavy visits — clearing winter debris and opening the property in spring, and leaves, cut-backs and the last of the growth in fall.
One-time restoration cuts
Overgrown properties brought back in stages. A lawn that hasn't been touched in two months gets cut down over two or three visits, not one, because taking it all at once shocks the turf.
Spring clean-up
April
Winter debris and matted material cleared, beds cut back and edged, first mulch, and a first cut once the ground carries a machine.
Weekly maintenance
May to June
The heaviest growth of the year. Weekly cutting, bed weeding, and the first hedge work once the spring flush has hardened.
Summer hold
July to August
Cutting height up, watering matters more than cutting, and the work moves to bed maintenance, trimming and keeping edges sharp while the turf coasts through the heat.
Fall recovery
September to October
Growth returns with cooler nights, cutting goes back to weekly, and leaf removal starts in passes as the canopy comes down.
Fall clean-up
November
Final short cut, last leaf pass, beds cut back and the property left clean so spring starts from a good baseline instead of a mess.
Durham Region considerations
Durham residential runs from century homes on narrow lots in Pickering Village and downtown Bowmanville to half-acre and larger properties out through Brooklin, Uxbridge and Scugog. Those are genuinely different jobs — the older streets are a shade, canopy and access problem, and the rural properties are a volume problem. Mature-canopy neighbourhoods also carry a leaf load that can't be cleared in one November visit without leaving the turf smothered for a week, which is why fall clean-up here is staged in passes.
